From Code to Creation: How I Built Developer Templates

This blog is selling a template, do not click it, if no need 😁

Under the Hood

Well, you have finally clicked it 😅

Shall we move ahead?

If you have landed here, then give me a few minutes actually to tell a story and finally sell my template 😃

Hello friends, welcome to a new journey. I’m Shrey — your friendly dev next door and the face behind ihatereading.in.

Over the last two months, I’ve been neck-deep in code, pixels, and far too many late-night npm installs. While building full-stack templates for myself, I had a thought:

“Why not release a few of these to the world for a basic fee?”

And that’s exactly what this post is about.

Wait… Why Not Free?

I could have put these templates up for free. Part of me wanted to. But then my inner voice said:

“You already gave away too much for free, buddy.

And honestly, these templates save 50+ hours of dev time, so slapping on a small price felt fair.

Also, I love the idea of building something sustainable for myself and useful for others. If that means charging a coffee’s worth, I’m cool with it.

So… What is ihatereading?

Good question!

ihatereading.in is a platform I’m building for developers like you and me. It’s where I’ll be sharing templates, dev resources, code setups, and a healthy sprinkle of tech opinions. 😁

Check it out when you’re bored (or hyped), especially if you prefer action over theory.

Introducing: Gather AI 🧠

Last week, I was scrolling through Framer templates for inspiration and boom — I had an idea. Wrote 4–5 quick prompts on v0.dev, and a rough concept for my latest template was born.

Of course, it wasn’t production-ready on Day 1 (I wish). But I put in the time, refined the design, cleaned the code, and shipped it as:

What’s Inside the Template?

Here’s what you get out of the box:

  • ✅ Home, Features, Blog, Contact
  • ✅ Login, Signup, Reset Password
  • ✅ Responsive UI, Payment Widgets
  • ✅ Clean Navbar + Footer
  • ✅ Built with Next.js + Tailwind + React
  • ✅ Designed to be developer-first

“Wait, That’s It? One Template?”

If you’re wondering why I’m calling it a template launch with just one…

Hold on, I’ve got more 🔥 in the vault.

🧪 AI Chat App Template

Built with Vercel’s AI SDK and simple server-side APIS.

📈 SAAS CRM Dashboard

Because what’s a dashboard without charts?Used Recharts to make it clean and powerful.

🧬 Neuron AI SAAS Frontend

More AI, more UI, and yes, more love for components.

Watch the Full Breakdown

I recorded a 12-minute YouTube video explaining all of this, including how each template works and what tech stacks I used.

📺 Watch it here (play it at 1.5x — I won’t be offended).

The Secret Sauce: A Starter Repo

Here’s my method:

  1. Clone my starter repo (clean code + structure).
  2. Add relevant packages depending on the template.
  3. Start building.

Think of it like a dev boilerplate that works for 90% of use-cases.

For example:

  • For AI templates, I add Vercel AI SDK + Langchain.
  • For dashboards, I add Recharts + Tailwind plugins.

This way, all templates share a consistent architecture. Once you get used to one, the rest will feel like LEGO blocks.

What’s the Big Picture?

I want to help developers build faster, better, and smarter.

Whether you’re a solo founder, student, or hobby dev, these templates are designed to give you a head-start. Less time Googling folder structures, more time building actual products.

And if I can help even one dev avoid another late-night bug hunt — mission accomplished.

TL;DR

  • I built a bunch of templates.
  • They’re simple, clean, and developer-friendly
  • You can buy them on ihatereading.in.
  • Gather AI is the first in line — more are coming.
  • I’m not giving them for free, but they’re affordable.
  • Let’s build cool things together.

See you in the next one.— Shrey 👋
