iHateReading — software development tutorials

iHateReading is a software development learning platform that breaks programming topics into step-by-step threads, roadmaps, templates, and curated developer resources. The homepage lists practical tutorials for React, Next.js, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, AI tooling, and product engineering. Each thread is a short, structured walkthrough you can skim, bookmark, and reuse while building. Use iHateReading when you need a concrete implementation path rather than a long essay: how to add auth, ship a SaaS starter, submit a product to directories, follow a frontend or backend roadmap, or scan GitHub trending repositories. Start from the article index at /blog, or the machine-readable list at /articles.json. Continue to Explore for curated blogs, Roadmaps for skill paths, Store for website templates, Jobs for developer roles, and SaaS Directories for launch lists. Under the Hood

I’ve been writing online for the last 5/6 years
We have multiple platforms for publishing content, and the final choice depends on the type of content.
  • Medium is good for in-depth articles, including Substack, Hashnode, Technews, Hackernews, Devto, etc
  • X is mainly for posting anything
  • Reddit is for general feedback and queries
  • IG, YouTube is a video-based content platform
  • Website is for blogs/newsletter and SEO-optimised marketing
Each of them needs a system for researching, creating content, adding backlinks, hyperlinks, formatting, and finally posting the content; each needs analysis.
Every time a writer wants to create content, the platform is the main decision, along with the type of content. Market research is a bit boring but imperative.
But we don’t have a platform to actually do the content creation, distribution, and analysis all in one system or one platform.

AI Content Management System

We need a system that helps to orchestrate the content management.
We need a platform to manage multiple platforms, websites/businesses for small to large-scale companies.
One platform to research, generate, publish and analyse with AI integration in the middleware and human intervention in the system.
It’s not a normal CMS that adds an AI layer on it; in fact, it starts with AI and ends with a human.
The real problem and the gap, a writer uses Google Docs/Notion/Obsidian/notes to write the content, opens multiple tabs for market research, use analytics tools for SEO keywords
Once the crafted content is published, a writer needs to rely on analytics to understand CTA, SEO keywords, tracking, hyperlinks and more
Not to forget, the writer does the same thing for each domain/business every time for the new content. That is why more knowledge-based and second-brain kind of tools are the trending ones because they ease each person's headache management with multiple tools simultaneously.

Systems

A system is nothing but a combination of components, where each component is connected to the other components.
In our case, let’s first explain what the components of our system are

Components

  • AI writing editor like Notion/Obsidian
  • AI chatbot assistant that can generate content, research online links via webscraping, and web search via search APIs, bringing multiple tabs' content into one chatbot message
  • Publish content on a subdomain or a domain blog page, and share with others or team members
  • Analysis for each content using custom scripts, giving referrals, clicks, reads, views, comments and more details
  • Publishing content into multiple cross-platforms, including Medium, Devto, Hashnode, Hackernews, X, Reddit, IG, and YouTube
  • SEO keyword research, competitor analysis for better blogs/content
6 components for a system are all we need.
Our above system helps in researching, generating, publishing and analysing the content for each platform of our choice. One can run multiple domains as a content platform using this one system.

Purpose/Use-cases or WHY?

The answer is quite simple, we ain’t have one, and we do need one.
In future, creating content will become imperative as software development won’t be a MOAT anymore.
Marketing and selling content via storytelling is the future.
Teams can create more, generate more, so they do need a system to manage more. Each individual might be running multiple YouTube accounts, IG accounts, Substack, Medium, or more. Hence, managing multiple accounts, which is currently handled using Google Sheets and Notion, is done manually, to be precise.
💡 Clearly a gap in the market
As a developer, I run multiple SaaS platforms, each of which requires domain, market research & content creation.
Managing emails, social accounts, domains, sending emails, and creating content are tasks that consume almost half a day.
Without a system that can solve the problem, that’s not a solution; it’s a new problem of managing multiple things simultaneously.
I sincerly think that after AI, people are working more and more and creating tonnes of applications/software, and hence nobody has free time, even after the AI storm that keeps scaring that humans might become jobless.
If a human sincerly want to become jobless, than build system with components

User Flow System

  • User adds the domain/business/website or describes it
  • AI did the market research for competitors, SEO and more
  • AI then creates sample content by doing web searches and research
  • AI customise the content for each social media platform, blogs/video/email or courses or scripts for IG or YouTube
  • Each piece of content can be edited by the user
  • Publish content to a subdomain, domain, website, blog page, CMS or other tools like sheets or docs
  • Deep Analysis of the published content
I am running a few online tools such as iHateReading, gettemplate and Buildsaas.
Each one has a domain email, a custom domain, a blog page and social media accounts
Now imagine how much time I am wasting doing the same work for each platform.
I need a system to help me add my domain, connect email, integrate CMS or website blog page and bring some AI-based market research helping me to craft content and finally publish it.

Execution

I am a big fan of not just giving an idea but providing a path to follow, to turn the idea into reality.
I’ve built the above system for myself, and today, I’ll be sharing how to build one for your team or yourself.
This article might become technical, but one can use AI website builders to create the same.

Basic Requirements

  • Frontend application using React, Tailwind or any framework, creating pages for email connectivity, AI chatbot/assistant, advanced editor, analysis chart and AI research web page, etc
  • Backend APIs for web scraping, AI web search based on queries, API for publishing content to CMS, blog page, third-party tools such as Google Sheets, Docs, Notion, API for connecting tools and emails, API for sending emails and more
  • AI LLM APIs or Providers like AI SDK, Openrouter, or an AI LLM API such as Claude
The research part needs web searching and web scraping simultaneously.
Based on the user domain, AI scrapes the website/domain/link/description, understands the context and creates queries for web search.
Each web search then brings URLs or links to scrape and extract the required information.
AI Deep Research
AI conducted market research on existing platforms such as Product Hunt, Google, other AI directories, GitHub, G2, and Reddit.
Competitor Analysis & Keyword Finder
We can do 2 kinds of research: one is simple, and the other is deep research. Deep research will find competitors, revenue, and traffic information to create better content.
Deep research is more important. Each platform needs a searching API endpoint. In that case, for example, APIs for github search, APIs for Reddit, and G2 search and search on Google Maps, APIs for YouTube and IG search, etc.
Research is important because every business begins with finding competitors or colleagues.
Traffic and Volume Analysis
AI research will find keywords based on traffic and web search, and search volume, to suggest optimised content.
One way is to use the existing third-party API, such as web traffic and keyword search APIs, and another one is to build a custom one.
Hyperlinks/Backlinks research
More research is needed for hyperlinks and backlinks for our content, which helps to increase our authenticity.
Each of the above tasks needs an AI agent, and each agent needs multiple APIs to complete the tasks.

Content Creation

Content creation is another agent that generates SEO optimised backlinks/hyperlinks and blogs.
Each blog then needs a human approval to finalise.
Each finalised blog is ready to publish on the domain/subdomain/embed/CMS.

Publishing Content

Publishing a blog requires an API for each of the platforms. For the final part, which is analysis, we need another API to extract the blog views, clicks, conversions, errors and more. We can finally render the deep analysis charts for each blog page on the platform.
