Hello friends,
Welcome to iHateReading
A lot is going under the hood on iHateReading, what does it mean?
We are revamping our website and will soon release a new version with a new UI
We are putting more new content almost every day including threads, code components, boilerplates, newsletter and lot more
I just found this interesting easing.dev website that provides easing animation explanations and a list of animations along with frame-motion and CSS-based code snippets of each animation.
How interesting it becomes whenever I surf the internet, within a few minutes I can find so many interesting things going on the internet.
Twitter provide so many inspirations, developers share various UI components along with cool animations inspiring my inner frontend developer who loves to create interfaces.

Currently looking into the above Twitter tweet because I want to create this code component for the custom repo section of our website. I prefer using tailwind css along with lucide-react or react-icons as the icons library.
For more inspiring examples you can refer to https://landings.dev/ website which again provides a cool website landing page.
But the main question that comes to my mind regarding all the content aggregator websites is how will they even earn or sustain in the competitive market, sponsors? or advertisements? We are also trying our best to bring more sponsors and advertisements for our iHateReading and it seems to find the one is not a cakewalk.
Did you know how we created the entire iHateReading from scratch without using any third-party tech support and developed everything on our own from editor to write, APIs to publish, schedule, and fetch as well as frontend interfaces?
The tech stack we are using for iHateReading is as follows
- Next.js in the frontend framework
- Tailwind CSS, mantine.dev and lucide-react packages
- Editorjs for writing and creating editor
- Vercel for hosting
- Firebase is the backend database, storage and authentication
- Payments (still figuring out) (you can check 10+ payments portals)
- Github for version control
A lot more packages are involved and a lot more tools are created under the hood.
For example, we have developed our own email and blog writing editor using editorjs that helps to schedule, and publish blogs just like this one as well as write emails and send them to all our newsletter subscribers.
The design part is still missing but would love to put it in the way as a loose end from our side and slowly we are moving into a design-followed interface that provides a good user experience. For designs, we currently prefer using Tailwind CSS, Figma, and UI components library to have symmetry over the web interfaces. Lastly, after writing this blog, I'll be pushing the new version of our website, feel free to check.
Another good tweet I saw about a product that generates any github repository interactive diagram for visualization ofthe repository, tweet
and main thing is that the tool was using mermaid.js under the hood and hence what's next my core developer habit will do?
Mermaid.js is a diagram and charting tool that provides a way to create diagrams and charts and render them into markdown I mean this is quite useful for our threads page for rendering charts in the blog, in this way, we can bring more charts-related development content into the picture.
See that's how I search for the content and moving forward find some more interesting packages to upgrade our tech stack as well, skills are not that important but the ability to spot and learn the skill is quite useful.
But I want to bring more ways to incorporate content searching abilities and one interesting way I've found is via data scraping the entire internet.
Yes, scraping the entire internet is crazy and too expensive but if we limit the number of domains to scrap we might be able to cut down the server's cost. Now what to scrap and how to scrap is still an idea but seems like I am a bit closer, a good example will be app.daily.dev kind of platform that brings all software programming web-related content in one place. But the only problem is the cumbersome and too much data that creates chaos and confusion. Moving forward need some strong filtering or data cleaning then labelling and indexing in the end and LLM models might play a crucial role in this, another example I would love to put in the loop is like ground news. Ground news divides each and every piece of news into the categories of left, right and centre along with sources as well as validation of sources this brings authenticity to the news we are reading and hence makes a more trustworthy content platform. This kind of idea resonates as well much needed in the programming world as well bringing good content not just aggregation of content.
That would be enough for today
I will be moving to push our new website in production and will cross my finger that you might would love it.
See you in the next one.
