iHateReading Open-Source Projects: Every Tool, Template and API We Have Published on GitHub

Primary keyword: iHateReading open source. Also targeting: open source AI tools, Next.js templates open source, CRM template, AI tool directory template.

Most of what we build for iHateReading starts as a tool we needed ourselves. When it works, we clean it up and publish it. This post is the index: every public project, what it does in plain terms, and the GitHub link. The same list lives on the open-source projects page, which is the one we keep up to date.

Everything here is on github.com/shreyvijayvargiya. Clone it, run it, fork it. Where AI is involved, you bring your own API key, so nothing runs a model unless you ask it to.

AI and content tools

TubeLog archives YouTube channels as Markdown files, one per video, with the transcript included. It can write an AI blog from a transcript when you ask, and it ships with a local dashboard and 100 built-in channels to start from. There is a full walkthrough in Tubelog: Turn Any YouTube Channel Into a Markdown Library and AI Blogs.

cizle turns a SaaS URL or GitHub repo into launch, FAQ, feature and comparison videos. It reads your own pages and screenshots them, so the script is grounded in what your product actually says.

Creative Studio is an AI studio for images, logos, product videos and landing pages. You can generate a landing page once and then revise it in a chat. It is built with TanStack Start, React 19 and Supabase, and it includes a Markdown prompt library of visual styles.

Inkgest turns any link into a clean, readable digest.

README Repository Generator is an AI skill that reads a repository and writes a README that works as a landing page: what the project is, who it is for, how to try it fast, and what to do next.

founder-skills is a set of Claude skills for solo founders covering building, validating, launching and marketing a SaaS.

Productivity

OpenNote is a local-first note app. Notes live in your browser's IndexedDB, there is no cloud database, and an MCP bridge lets Claude Desktop search your notes without them leaving your machine. For background on MCP, see WebMCP, explained through a sweet shop.

Templates

crm-saas is a front-end CRM template with more than 60 screens, kanban boards, charts and an AI assistant. It runs on mock data, so you add your own backend. The thinking behind it is in Why I Keep Building CRM Templates.

ToolDir is a boilerplate for launching an AI tool directory on Next.js 15: searchable listings, categories, a submission flow with paid launch slots, a blog and an admin panel, backed by Supabase and Stripe. If you are curious about directory businesses, see how to build a directory listing website that earns online.

SwipeEmails is a searchable library of email template examples, grouped by company and category.

docs-template is a documentation site template built with Next.js and Tailwind.

Developer tools and APIs

Aantra API is a Hono API for AI audio and video translation. It covers text-to-speech translation, video dubbing (including long-form), captions, cost estimates before you dub, and viral clip detection, with per-IP rate limits and a documented endpoint list.

edcn-editor is a free, open-source video editor built with Next.js.

scrapefast is a small web scraping API built with Hono.

RepCN converts React code into a deployed project with a shareable URL. See the RepCN write-up.

Learning

Next.js Under the Hood is an interactive course on how Next.js works internally.

Which one should you start with?

  • You want to launch something this week: cizle for the video, and SaaS directories for distribution.
  • You are building a CRM, directory or docs site: crm-saas, ToolDir or docs-template save you the UI work.
  • You work with long videos or private notes: TubeLog and OpenNote.
  • You are building an API on Hono: Aantra API and scrapefast are small enough to read in an afternoon.

For a deeper look at four of these, read Four Open-Source Repos for Builders.

Contribute

Open an issue when something breaks on your setup, and send a pull request if you fix it. Docs, templates and prompt files are the easiest places to start. New projects land on the open-source page first, and the blog index has the write-ups.

Cheers Shrey
